Ali submitted: Unaired Alcatraz Pilot plot/storyline 

I saw the original pilot on a Continental flight on New Year’s Eve. Jimmy was introduced racing Rebecca to/from buoy in SF Bay in wetsuits. She was in lead to buoy but ran out of steam so he came from behind to win and she was not happy. Later she barges into locker room at precinct, a regular occurrence from comments, to find Jimmy with just towel around his waist. She gives him $20 for winning race and a kiss for not letting her win. Then she gets the call that warden was murdered and we see the only Jimmy scene in broadcast new pilot at the murder scene. Original pilot has one more scene next morning at Rebecca and Jimmy’s apartment (they lived together) he’s dressed and she is getting dressed and they talk about Hauser. Jimmy goes to answer knock at the door and it’s Soto who is surprised and disappointed to see Rebecca with a significant other. Rebecca kisses Jimmy good-bye and that’s the last scene with Santiago. :(

Soto inquires (jealous much) about him on the ferry to Alcatraz. Rebecca acknowledges Jimmy’s her boyfriend and it’s back to business. He is mentioned later when Hauser lets Rebecca onto his special task force and says she must keep it secret from everyone including her boyfriend and Ray. So what should have been a feast for Santiago fans turned into utter famine.

Gah, I’m so dissapointed we didn’t get to see that episode, but glad someone did. It’s such a shame things can just change like that {obv. not just like that I’m sure it was a tough decision on everyone in the production} and possibly great stories/scenes getting scrapped in the process :(
I would’ve LOVED seeing Santiago in something else than Knight armour.

Grrr.

I read about this too, but was quite surprised they didn’t mention Santiago being in the panel - but guess they wouldn’t invite him if his character no longer has a big part in the story :( {unless he’s a surprise guest! :D}

{what are the chances ‘Merlin’ will have a panel aswell and Santiago will be there ;P}

Blastr Knights interview: The strain after Lancelot’s sacrifice 

One bit of strain came with the loss of Sir Lancelot (Santiago Cabrera), who sacrificed himself to save Merlin and Arthur.

“What happened with Lancelot was he just wasn’t as good a knight as the rest of us,” joked Macken. “Nah, Santiago’s brilliant. I think the wonderful thing about the show is there’s so many legends associated with Arthur and Camelot that they do have a certain free reign to take stories and interpret them how they want to, because there are so many different interpretations of the myth and legends. And having us Knights there does let them develop the framework of the story and of the myth and of the legend and allow them to take it to different places. So Santiago, while he may have disappeared for a while, he is coming back.”

According to Young, “He’s a good character to have around, but when he goes off, we kind of come into our own, and obviously when he returns, it shakes things up again.”

The return of Lancelot will certainly shake up things big time, considering the seeds have already been planted for the famous King Arthur/Guinevere/Sir Lancelot love triangle.
